Jonathan is eight years old and in Top Class — the last year of pre-primary, normally finished by age six. He is not behind because he struggled. He is behind because until this year there was no money to start.
He lives with his grandmother, who is raising seven people in the household on what she can grow, along with his younger brother Ambrose and his little sister Angel. The family home is mud-walled and thatched, with no electricity, and water comes from a borehole.
He joined the program in 2026. A sponsor is what keeps him in class long enough to catch up.
